BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: May 17, 2016 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Kay Godwin SUBJECT: Update on Courthouse Alignment DEPARTMENT: County Administrator BCC DISTRICT: 3 STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Interim Update on Courthouse alignment and discussion of alternatives for possible vote. BACKGROUND: On May 11, 2016, Commissioner Boyles and staff met with the courthouse design team to discuss alternatives and a possible realignment following input to the Commission on May 3, 2016, from the Crestview Historic Preservation Board. Specifically, the continued concern expressed by the Historic Board is the planned orientation of the new building and the visibility of the columns from the Historic Downtown point of view (South Main Street). The Historic Board has asked the county to consider whether there is any feasible way to place the courthouse on the site so that the front of the columns would be more visible from South Main Street. OPTIONS: Background provided for Board consideration and discussion. RECOMMENDATIONS: Provide guidance as desired. RECOMMENDED BY: APPROVED BY: John Hofstad, County Administrator
