Public Content Rather than a typical report card, Okaloosa County Kindergarten teachers use an age-appropriate comprehensive reporting system. The system includes a quarterly assessment checklist that is fully aligned to the Florida State Standards. In addition to the quarterly checklists, the system includes a Teacher Guide providing explicit directions for administering each assessment element, a Parent Guide, a mid-quarter parent progress report, and an appendix. The appendix, which was developed by a group of Kindergarten teachers, includes all resources required to administer the assessment system. Prior to the end of the 2016 school year, all Kindergarten teachers were provided the opportunity to submit feedback concerning both the Kindergarten Report Card and Curriculum Guides. Initial revisions were then made to the report card based on teacher feedback. A group of Kindergarten teachers received the initial revisions via email. This group then met and collaborated with District Instructional Coaches on to provide additional feedback and approve the final revisions. The assessment system is completed online; MIS has developed a program that calculates each individual skill score once the teacher has entered the raw score. A Kindergarten representative per school is trained to serve as a resource in communicating the annual revisions.
