The property we need to purchase adjoins the OCSO Firing Range. Concerns about future encroachment around the firing range, coupled with current encroachment issues that jeopardize our Physical Abilities Testing Course located at Northwest Florida State College, make this purchase necessary. We must ensure we are positioned to continue to provide adequate training facilities for our Deputies as well as numerous other Local, State and Federal Law Enforcement Agencies. Enclosed you will find a Memorandum documenting the terms of the purchase as well as an appraisal including legal descriptions and the appraised value of the property. Purchase of the property will allow us to plan for future training needs and ensure development in the area of the firing range will not impede our ability to use it to its fullest potential. ~ We propose using Federal Asset Forfeiture funds (“drug money”) available to us through the U.S. Department of Justice Equitable Sharing Program.
