BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: December 15, 2015 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Rick Owen SUBJECT: Consideration of a Resolution opposing TDT Bill DEPARTMENT: County Administrator BCC DISTRICT: All STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Staff requests Board discussion and direction of a resolution opposing pending State legislation concerning Tourist Development Taxes. BACKGROUND: Staff has become aware of a new bill proposed by the Finance & Tax Committee in the Florida House of Representatives that would mandate 20 percent of all tourist development taxes paid throughout the state and currently collected to be automatically sent to Tallahassee and earmarked to support Enterprise Florida. Bay County has already drafted a similar resolution (attached). OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove resolution. RECOMMENDATIONS: Staff recommends Board approval of the attached resolution. RECOMMENDED BY: APPROVED BY: John Hofstad, County Administrator
