STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Mr. Dave Parisot, on behalf of Board of Directors of Friends of the
Shalimar Library, Inc. and himself, has requested a public hearing to petition the Board of
County Commissioners to vacate a portion of platted right-of-way adjacent to Block 52,
Townsite of Port Dixie subdivision in Shalimar.
BACKGROUND: Mr. Parisot and parties of interest are petitioning the Board of County
Commissioners to vacate the adjacent 15 feet of platted county right-of-way, 8th Street lying
adjacent to Lots 1 through 5, Block 52, and the adjacent 20 feet of platted county right-of-way of
5th Avenue lying adjacent to Lots 5 and 6, Block 52, also included is that portion of right-of-way
beginning at the southwest corner of Lot 5, Block 52 and proceed west 15 feet proceed south 20
feet proceed east 15 feet and proceed north 20 feet to the southwest corner of Lot 5, Block 52
and beginning at the northwest corner of Lot 1, Block 52 proceed west 15 feet proceed north 20
feet proceed east 15 feet and proceed south 20 feet to the northwest corner of Lot 1, Block 52,
Townsite of Port Dixie according to the plat thereof as recorded in Plat Book 1, Pages 64 - 66, or
the Public Records of Okaloosa County, Florida.
As part of the vacation the applicants request all stipulations be removed as part of the right-of-
way vacation with the exception of retaining an easement for utilities.
OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove the request to vacate portions of 8th Street and 5th Avenue
lying adjacent to Block 52, Townsite of Port Dixie.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Approve vacation of right-of-way as requested by petitioner of
portions of platted county right-of-way adjacent to Block 52, Townsite of Port Dixie.
