STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Okaloosa County Water & Sewer (OCWS) staff is requesting Board
of County Commissioners (BCC) approval to amend Contract C14-2073-WS, Electric Motor
Repair Services.
BACKGROUND: OCWS and Electric Motor Repair Service currently maintain the referenced
contract for electric motor and pump repairs. Okaloosa County Water & Sewer is requesting to
add unit prices for additional pumps, motors and related items that exist in our system, but are
not included in the list of unit prices in the existing contract. Electric Motor Repair Service has
provided pricing for two categories (if applicable) for the additional units (see attached pricing
schedule). The two categories are; 1. Recondition 2. Complete Rewind, including Recondition.
OCWS operates and maintains hundreds of pumps and electric motors. In many cases the electric
motors are attached to pumps and are integral to their performance. We have pumps and motors
at our wastewater plants (3), at every public water supply well (20) and in every one of our sewer
pump stations (150). The size of electric motors in our systems range from pumps with ½ HP
motors to 300 HP motors that power the blowers for the digesters at our Arbennie Pritchett
Water Reclamation Facility. Having a motor and pump repair facility under contract is mission
critical for our department. As our infrastructure ages, we experience more failures over time and
these motors and pumps must be repaired and put back into service in the field quickly.
OPTIONS: Approve or Deny
RECOMMENDATIONS: Staff recommends BCC approval of the amendment to contract C14-
2073-WS, Electric Motor Repair Services.
