BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: May 17, 2016 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Paul Lux, Supervisor of Elections SUBJECT: Federal Elections Activities Plan Grant Certificate of Matching Funds STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request approval and authorize the Chairman to execute a Certificate of Matching Funds for FY 2015-2016 Federal Elections Activities Plan Grant for a County 15% match, submitted by the Supervisor of Elections. BACKGROUND: The 2015 Florida Legislature appropriated funding specifically for federal election activities. Funds received pursuant to this agreement may be spent for any of the following purposes relating to federal election activities: • Voter education; • Poll worker training; • Standardizing election results reporting; • Other federal election administration activities, as approved by the Department of State. Okaloosa County's amount of funding is $20,736.98. County matching funds are required in the amount of (15%) $3,110.55. These funds are in the current budget, and no additional funds are required. RECOMMENDATION: Request the Board of County Commissioners authorize the Chairman to review, approve and sign the attached Certification of Matching Funds and all future grant documentation during the term of the grant.
