STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request approval to award a bid to Anderson Columbia Co. Inc for
the Martin Luther King, Jr Blvd and Green Acres Rd Rehabilitation Project in the amount of
$1,994,242,66.
BACKGROUND & ANALYSIS: Public Works requested a bid for the rehabilitation of Martin
Luther King Jr. Blvd and Green Acres Rd (RFB PW 39-15). Bids were received on April 22,
2015 with three (3) respondents submitting. Public Works' staff has reviewed the bids and
determined that Anderson Columbia Co. Inc was the lowest responsive bidder at $1,994,242,66.
Staff requests approval to award the bid to Anderson Columbia Co. Inc for the Martin Luther
King, Jr. Blvd and Green Acres Rd Rehabilitation Project. Upon Board approval of the award,
Purchasing staff will draft a contract and it will be brought back for the Chairman’s signature.
Funding for the project is available as part of the Board of County Commissioners' capital
improvement program. The bid/contract will be a unit priced award and payment basis.
OPTIONS: Approve/Deny the request to award the bid to Anderson Columbia Co. Inc for the
Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd and Green Acres Rd Rehabilitation Project for the total price of
$1,994,242,66.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval to award a bid to Anderson Columbia Co.
Inc for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd and Green Acres Rd Rehabilitation Project (RFB PW
39-15) for $1,994,242,66.
