SUBJECT: Public Hearing for FTA 5339 Grant Application Program of Projects

STATEMENT OF ISSUE: The Board of County Commissioners will conduct a public hearing
to receive public comment regarding the proposed Program of Projects for the FY17 FDOT 5339
Bus and Bus Facilities Capital Grant. This public hearing was set during the Board's regular
meeting on November 15th, 2016.
BACKGROUND: The Section 5339 Bus and Bus Facilities Program provides Federal capital
assistance to eligible recipients who operate/contract public transportation services in rural areas. The
County proposes to utilize funds derived from the grant to fund capital projects serving Okaloosa
County's rural areas. The attached list of projects describes the purposes for which the 5339
allocation will be used. The 5339 capital funds are matched with state funds and no local funds
are required.
The attached Programs of Projects will become final if no public comments are received after the
public hearing. Upon final adoption of the Program of Projects, Staff will prepare the 5339
application and present to the Board for submission approval.
RECOMMENDATIONS: The Department recommends that the Board of County
Commissioners conduct the public hearing at 9:00 AM or soon thereafter, then, following any
public input that may be received, vote to approve the Program of Projects.
