BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: October 20, 2015 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Jason Autrey SUBJECT: Special Event Permit - Emerald Coast Fitness Challenge DEPARTMENT: Public Works BCC DISTRICT: 2 STATEMENT OF ISSUE: John Shular with Battle Tested Studios has requested permission to hold the Emerald Coast Fitness Challenge Fall Classic, 2015 Event on the public beach from The Boardwalk to John Beasley Park on Okaloosa Island. BACKGROUND: County Ordinance #13-07 (regulation of county recreational areas, including parks and beaches) addresses Special Events at county parks, beaches or recreational areas within Okaloosa County. A request was received from John Shular to hold the Emerald Coast Fitness Challenge Fall Classic, 2015 Event at The Boardwalk and down the beach to John Beasley Park on Okaloosa Island. The event is scheduled to take place Saturday, October 10th from 7:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. This permit is being processed after-the-fact as the permit application was not submitted in time for placement on the October 6th BCC agenda. This request has been reviewed by Public Works, Emergency Services, the Sheriff's Office, the Assistant Fire Chief on Okaloosa Island and the leaseholder at the Boardwalk OPTIONS: Approve / Disapprove RECOMMENDATIONS: Recommend approval of the after-the-fact Special Event Permit for the Emerald Coast Fitness Challenge Fall Classic, 2015 Event at The Boardwalk as submitted by John Shular.
