STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request Board appoint staff's recommended screening committee to
review employment applications for the Human Resources Director position.
BACKGROUND: The former Human Resources Manager has been working as Interim Human
Resources Director after the previous director moved to another position within the County. The
Human Resources Policy VII, C states, in part, “A screening committee comprised of a
Commissioner, the County Administrator or designee, and others as determined and approved by
the Board, will review all qualified employment applications for vacant department director
positions.”
Staff recommends the Board consider appointment of the committee to include: Commissioner
Nathan Boyles, BCC liaison commissioner to Human Resources; John Hofstad, County
Administrator; and Kay Godwin, Deputy County Administrator; and/or others as desired.
OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove/Modify recommended selection committee list.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Staff recommends Board appointing a screening committee
consisting of Commissioner Nathan Boyles, BCC liaison commissioner to Human Resources;
John Hofstad, County Administrator; and Kay Godwin, Deputy County Administrator to review
employment applications for Human Resources Director.
