How long until a reply?
These contacts have a documented start and a linked reply. The endpoint may be a referral, a negative search or a records delivery. A same-day result means the same calendar date, not an instant answer. Select a row to inspect its evidence.
Archives: 1 day to a routing acknowledgment, then records supplied 14 days after the confirmed web submission. FBI: 9 days to its first negative-search letter; the additional eFOIA submission was confirmed October 14 and closed eight calendar days later. Keep the clocks—and the claims—separate.
Elapsed time
Calendar-day counts subtract documented dates. When both timestamps are verified, an additional elapsed duration shows days, hours and minutes. Original email timestamps are normalized to America/Chicago (Central time); UTC values are retained in the downloads. No business-day or statutory-deadline calculation is made. “By” means an event was documented no later than that date; it is not an exact timestamp. Unknown or conflicting dates do not produce a duration. We do not pair one reply with several earlier attempts simply because they share a request number.
A failed-send rejection measured in seconds describes the delivery system, not an agency response. Unanswered entries retain their last documented check; no live waiting clock extrapolates beyond the evidence.
What counts as production
Historical documents received are separate from a receipt, referral, estimate or negative-search letter. State Archives, House Clerk, West Florida Public Libraries and the Tax Collector supplied historical records. Fort Walton Beach announced portal attachments, but their download and completeness are unverified in the latest reviewed note.
A negative search describes one office’s result. It does not prove records never existed, that every custodian was searched, or that any law was broken.
