RESOLUTION 61-35
A RESOLUTION ENTITLED A RESOLUTION APPROPRIATING
FUNDS FOR THE CONTROL OF MOSQUITOES, SAND-FLEAS,
AND OTHER ARTHROPODS, PROVIDING FOR THE GENERAL
NATURE OF THE WORK TO BE DONE, AUTHORIZING AND
DIRECTING THE TRANSFER OF SUCH FUNDS TO THE BOARD
OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF OKALOOSA COUNTY,
FLORIDA, FOR SUCH WORK
WHEREAS, it is necessary to the health of the inhabitants of the City of
Fort Walton Beach, Florida, that a program be instituted for the control of
mosquitoes, sandfleas and other arthropods, and
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Walton Beach is without funds to carry on alone

WHEREAS, the State Board of Health is now authorized hy law to assist
counties in mosquito control programs, but is without authority to assist
municipalities, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Okaloosa County has evidenced
a desire to undertake a program for the complete eradication of mosquitoes,
sandfleas and other arthropods in the City of Fort Walton Beach, but are without
funds with which to match the aforesaid State aid available to counties for
such programs, and
WHEREAS, in order to take advantage of the funds available from the State
Board of Health it is then determined that it is to the best interest of the
said City and of the County that the funds available to the City be placed
at the disposal of the Board of County Commissioners and that the program
planned by the City be carried out by the Board of County Commissioners in order
to take advantage of the State aid available, .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WALTON
BEACH, FLORIDA,
SECTION 1: There is hereby appropriated from the General Funds of the City
of Fort Walton Beach for the fiscal year 1961-62, the total sum of $8,000.00,
to be expended for the control of mosquitoes, flies, sand-fleas and other
arthropods, in the City of Fort Walton Beach, by draining and spraying the
breeding place or places of such insects, within the said City and without the
said City, and the institution of sanitary landfill method of disposing of
garbage in the said City and adjacent area.
SECTION 2; The aforesaid total expenditure and appropriation shall be broken
down and expended as follows: Salaries and Labor $2777 .-2° 3 Gas, Oil, Repairs,
etce, $/442,49 ; Directors' Travel, etc., $4gH7-—3; Contingency Fund 5 fgesp,
$31 7e. 7/ :
SECTION 3: The funds herein appropriated shall be turned over to the clerk of
the Circuit Court in and for Okaloosa County, Florida, upon his requisition,
for expenditure by the Board of County Commissioners of Okaloosa County, Florida,
in accord with this resolution, as well as the drainage program as outlined
by the City Manager and the Okaloosa County Health Department.
