data among participating subcontractor laboratories, if
applicable. Appropriate sampling and analytical methods have been selected, as
described in this QAPP, which have QC acceptance limits that support the achievement
of established performance criteria.
2.4.6 Sensitivity
Sensitivity is defined as the ability of the method or instrument to detect the contaminant
of concern and other target compounds at the level of interest. Sensitivity for this study is
driven by the specified quantitation limits (QL) and detection limits (DL) for the analyses.

2.6 Sampling Procedures
The Nalgene samplers shall be loaded into the Sampling Kit Tube with the appropriate
sample containers prior to a pending (forecasted) qualifying storm event as defined in
Section 2.1. Once the storm has passed and it safe for personnel to gain access to the
samplers, a grab sample will be collected. Samples shall be collected first from the inflow
to the retention pond approximately 5-10 feet below the Nalgene samplers or at pool
inlet, and next from water discharging from the retention pond. Grab samples will be
collected using either a dipper or by hand submerging a laboratory clean – un preserved
sample container to fill the appropriate, laboratory prepared sample containers for Fecal
Coliform. Care must be taken not to disturb sediment or the water column upstream of
the Nalgene samplers prior to collection of the samples. Once the qualifying event has
been collected in the Nalgene samplers, the collected sample volume will be transferred
to pre-cleaned laboratory-supplied bottles under controlled conditions from the
laboratory. Any sample requiring preservation will be preserved immediately upon
collection from the respective sampler. Table 4 shows sample containers, preservation
method, and holding time for each parameter of interest.
Equipment blanks, field duplicates and MS/DS duplicates will be collected in a similar
fashion . Equipment blanks will be collected by pouring deionized water into the sampling
port on one of the Nalgene samples while collecting the rinse water into a sample

container for analysis. Field duplicates will be collected by using the water collected in
one sampler to fill the parent sample bottles, and using then water collected in the other
sampler to fil the field duplicate bottles. Equipment blanks, field duplicates and MS/DS
duplicates will follow the same chain of custody, field notes and shipping requirements as
the stormwater samples.
The Nalgene samplers will be cleaned or replaced as appropriate after sample collection.
Additional details concerning sampling and cleaning procedures can be found in
Appendix B (Standard Operating Procedures for Field Sampling Activities; Excerpts from
Florida’s DEP – SOP-001/01.
