A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF FORT WALTON BEACH TO SUBMIT
TO. THE. FLORIDA’ DEPARTMENT: OF “ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION, DIVISION
OF RECREATION: AND: -PARKS; THE- LAND- AND ‘WATER: -CONSERVATION.-FUND
PROGRAM. AN APPLICATION -FOR--FINANCIAL - ASSISTANCE -- FOR - THE
DEVELOPMENT - OF OUTDOOR RECREATIONAL FACILITIES AND PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE: DATE.”
WHEREAS. ‘one of ‘the City! $ - purposes is to. plan. for. a comprehensive
system of. public and --private recreation. and-.open space sites and
facilities which are available to the public: and
WHEREAS, . the.-City. is. committed. to.. provide ..an . adequate,
environmentally .sound..and cost.effective recreation.-and open space
system for all residents of and visitors to the Citys and
. WHEREAS, the. City. shall. continue its efforts to ensure... that all
recreation: facilities. are accessible by all age groups, including the
handicapped and physically disabled: and
WHEREAS, ‘the. City will. continue to. apply. for. all. available. state
and federal. funds and implement recreation programs and provisions of
the Comprehensive Plan; 2000; and
WHEREAS, the City -Council of..Fort. Walton Beach wishes to apply to
the florida. Department of. Environmental-. Protection, Division -of
Recreation and Parks, - through:the.Land and Water Conservation Fund
Program. for... financial. assistance’ to increase the recreational
facilities available to the public
NOW. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE crTy OF FORT
WALTON: BEACH, FLORIDA:
“SECTION. In ‘The. City. Manager: on. 1 behalf. of the City of Fort Walton
Beach: is. hereby -authorized. to .submit..an application to.the Florida
Department . of Environmental. Protection,-. Division of. Recreation and
Parks, through.the-.Land and-.-Water-.Conservation Fund -Program and,
following approval by the National Park Service. ofthe Land and Water
Conservation Fund. grant. application,--shall. enter into a project
agreement to implement the approved grant project.
SECTION IJ: The. City. Manger of Fort. Walton Beach. is. hereby
authorized: to-send copies. -of this. Resolution to the Florida Department
of Environmental Protection and other persons as directed by the City
Council.
- SECTION. Ill: - That this Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon the approval of the City Council] and signature by the Mayor.
