He told the Board
investment in this business (Film Commission) is an investment
in development of a new market. Mr. Gossom felt the area could
host a film festival to rival other festivals. He acknowledged
the Emerald Coast Film Commission does receive county support
but said he believes it is requesting an increase.
Mr. Amunds asked if there is a list of all the commercials,
films, etc. which have been shot here. Ms. Morgan replied the
Emerald Coast Film Commission does have a website but it does
not list every single production. Mr. Harris asked Ms. Morgan
to repeat the impact information previously cited.
Upon inquiry by Mr. Boyles about what will make the Film
Commission more successful, Ms. Morgan answered, “increase the
budget.” She stated it takes money to develop a Film Commission
Office. When Mr. Boyles asked how much is needed, Ms. Morgan
replied that is under discussion. She pointed out the
importance of going to trade shows. Mr. Boyles thanked her for
the presentation.
