1. BACKGROUND:
1. 1. The Engineering & Utility Services Department received a City-initiated rezoning
request for property at 31 Memorial Parkway SW to amend the zoning category from
Recreation ( REC) to Community Facilities ( CF).
1. 2. Ordinance 1906 to convey a portion of City-owned surplus property at 31 Memorial
Parkway SW to the Emerald Coast Science Center, Inc. was approved on first reading
by City Council at their September 23, 2014 meeting.
1. 3. Since the intended use of the property is changing from the Creative Senior Center
City recreational use) to the Emerald Coast Science Center ( museum/ cultural use), a
Future Land Use Map amendment and rezoning is necessary in order to allow for the
intended future use.
