subject: Renewal Comparison - 2009 to 2011
Sylvia,
Attached is a premium comparison of the 2009 renewal versus the present 2011 renewal. The 2009
renewal was the last year before the marketing bid exercise of 2010. Therefore, it shows what the
premiums were looking like before outside competition entered the picture in 2010.
v
In light of PRIA' s recent quote of an 11% increase, we wanted to compare the movement of o
premiums. As you can see, the 2011overall premium total is still under the 2009 level by approximately
15 %. Even though we never welcome moderate premium increases in today' s market, this spreadsheet N
shows that PRIA is still offering the City a favorable renewal and that they are not attempting to recoup c
all the lost premium income in the next policy year. In addition, we should also note that FRIA offered
a decrease on the City' s program going from 2008 to 2009. 3
It appears that the workers' camp experience modification number, rates, and an increase in property of
rates have had an undesirable effect on the overall premium. It is understandable that the wind /catastrophic
exposure in Florida has affected the property rates.
Once you have had an opportunity to review, let us know your thoughts?
Thanks,
Stephen
