AGAINST PROPOSED ALAN Winslette, he found that Mr. Winslette' s corporation is
WINSLETTE FESTIVAL currently called the Destin Crawfish, and is in the
process of
having the name changed to the Emerald Coast
Productions, which is nonprofit. The City Manager said
Mr. Winslette is in compliance with all the guidelines
except that he has
produced anything to show the
not
name change. Regarding questions of concept, the the
City Manager asked for guidance from Council if they are
expecting him to come back for final approval, or if
everything is in compliance with the approval of the
concept, they press ahead.
A comment was made that
telephone calls had been
received from
people who
not opposed to the idea of are
having the festival downtown, but having it on the
Fourth of July when they think it will already be packed
with people anyway.
The Mayor asked if anyone from the public wished to
speak.
Doug Reed, Chairman of CRA, and owner of Merlins, 144
Miracle Strip Parkway, challenged the validity of the
names on the petition. He felt a lot of the names were
employees of the merchants even if the first paragraph
states " we, the merchants".
The City Manager informed that Mr. Winslette is
presently involved in contracts with concessionaires and
things like that, and he felt if this is kept in limbo,
it will cause him a problem.
When asked for clarification
problem concerning of the
the name, the
City Manager replied people have checked
with the Secretary of State to find out if the Emerald
Coast Product ions, Inc. is a not- for- profit
corporation. It is originally known as Destin Crawfish
with no formal name change.
