Report from the Public Works Committee re water extension into Cinco Bayou
was read:
An informal meeting was set up between the PUblic Works Committee and the
Councilman of Cinco Bayou to discuss the possibility of water service extension
along Bay Dive, east of mighway 85. This extension, if installed, would
add approxifuately thirty- five customers to the water system within the Town
of Cinco Bayou and an additional one- half dozen customers within the City
Limits of Fort Walton Beach if the line were extended beyond the Cinco Bayou
boundary.
This extension seems feasible from an engineering point of view because the
existing water main running north of Highway 85 is " teed" and " capped" at
Bay Drive on the east side of the Highway. In addition, Cinco Bayou has
offered to finance the" extension of the Un"
e, including the extension into
Fort Walton Beach to include those homes adjacent to the Cincm Bayou boundary.
It suggested during this meeting that the City of Fort Walton Beach obtain
was
a franchise from Cinco Bayou for this water system. This would give us legal
authority to specify and install the necessary water services in accordance
with Fire Underwtiters specifications. If this service is installed it is the
wish of the Public Works Committee that fire hydrants be included in the
installation so that all available City fire fighting equipment can be used
in this area.
It is the opinion of the Public Works Committee that the request
of the members
for water service extension by the Town of Cinco Bayou be turned over to the
Finance Committee for their consideration. In the establishment of a franchise
the following details should be included:
Maintenance responsibility - Meter reading - Minimum bill - Water charge rate-
Extension financeing and purhhase -

Councilman Smith. Councilman Cahalan requested that the record reveal his
affirmative vote on the question of this extension at the proposed rate and
stated that he is influenced in his affirmation because the line so run will
serve several citizens of the City who are not now being served and this further
service will tend to insure the health and welfare of our citizenry.

mains and storm and sewage drains to the boundary of the project. Paved streets
to provide access to the project will also have to be provided

ments in lieu of taxes would be made in an amount equal to either ( 1) 10% of
