ADOPTED this ____ day of __________ 2013. BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OKALOOSA COUNTY, FLORIDA By: ______________________________ DON R. AMUNDS, CHAIRMAN ATTEST: DON W. HOWARD CLERK OF CIRCUIT COURT By: ________________________________ Deputy Clerk 2 Packet Pg. 723 BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: November 5, 2013 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Don Turner SUBJECT: Funding Request Crestview Courthouse Design Assistance DEPARTMENT: Facility Maintenance BCC DISTRICT: ALL STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request approval of funding not-to-exceed (NTE) $32,000 to procure technical assistance with the Crestview Courthouse project concept development. BACKGROUND: Over the past many years, non-court related functions have been relocated out of the Crestview courthouse to other county facilities to make room for the increased demand for court services. The FY '14 budget makes provisions to create space for the Property Appraiser's office in the Brackin Building which will vacate their current space in the Crestview courthouse. The core of the facility was constructed in 1953 and a major expansion constructed in 1962 and '63. Other than a series of limited remodeling projects over the years, no facility-wide renovation has been undertaken to address the needs of a modern court operation. To maximize the utility of the courthouse for those court related functions that remain and provide for the security needs for the facility, the courthouse is in need of significant renovation. To begin the process, some technical assistance is needed for concept designs and cost estimating. The duration of the assistance may last for up to fifteen (15) weeks and will require a not-to-exceed (NTE) budget of $32,000. RECOMMENDATIONS: Request approval of funding not-to-exceed (NTE) $32,000 to procure technical assistance with the Crestview Courthouse project concept development. RECOMMENDED BY: APPROVED BY: Ernie Padgett, County Administrator Packet Pg. 724 Packet Pg. 725 BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: November 5, 2013 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Don Turner SUBJECT: Update - Shalimar Annex Project DEPARTMENT: Facility Maintenance BCC DISTRICT: All STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request Board direction on the Shalimar Annex project. BACKGROUND: At the October 15, 2013 BCC meeting, the Board directed Lord & Son (the Design-Build Contractor for the Shalimar Annex Project) to move forward with the Phase II design process. The Phase II design includes, but is not limited to, refining the space planning data that was collected during the Task Force meetings, developing conceptual drawings based on that refined data, and then developing 100% construction drawings based on the selected design concept. As the space planning data is being refined, some questions have emerged that will significantly affect the development of the project's design concepts. Staff requests the Board's direction prior to continuing with the project's design development. RECOMMENDATIONS: Request Board direction on the Shalimar Annex project.
