BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
AGENDA REQUEST
DATE: November 5, 2013
TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board
FROM: John Hofstad
SUBJECT: Haz-Waste Services Contract Addendum
DEPARTMENT: Public Works
BCC DISTRICT: All
STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Subsequent to the award of Contract # C14-2099-SW, materials
were encountered for disposal from local residents and small businesses here and during CO-OP
collections that were not covered in the bid documents that led to the award of the contract.
BACKGROUND: The bid documents cannot provide an exhaustive list of materials that may be
encountered at a hazardous waste facility, consequently, the contract allows for the vendor to
submit pricing for review and approval by the Board as an addendum to the contract pricing.
We have attached a letter from EQ-The Environmental Quality Company (EQ) requesting to add
the additional items and materials listed to the pricing list for contract number C14-2099-SW.
Staff has reviewed the materials list and finds the pricing to be competitive for collection and
disposal of these types of materials.
OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove Addendum #1 to Contract #C14-2099-SW for disposal of
additional hazardous materials.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Staff requests that the Board approve the vendor's letter of request
for additional materials and that Purchasing be authorized to prepare Addendum #1 to Contract
#C14-2099-SW for execution by the Chairman.
