MAYOR/COUNCIL ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Mayor mentioned the Chamber Government Affairs Committee is taking on the illegal alien
situation; the Okaloosa County League of Cities had a discussion on the homeless issue and
trying to work with Bridgeway to figure out if there is something the service providers need from
the Cities to help alleviate that problem not in the form of money; he mentioned the Clean
Marina Award ceremony he attended and noted out of the 136 in the State of Florida two are in
Fort Walton Beach; mentioned World Changers taking place in the City; and mentioned his
meeting with Dr. Long on the outsource study.
CITY MANAGER ANNOUNCEMENTS
The City Manager mentioned the information on the tentative millage was not received from the
Property Appraiser due to the lateness of the State Legislature in taking action and when the
data is received then a meeting will be needed prior to August 3rd to make a decision on the
tentative millage. She announced the 4th of July celebration at the Landing from 4: 00 to 10: 00
pm; recognized the Police Chief and the Police Department Honor Guard who were asked to do
a presentation of colors and retirement of colors at the United States Post Office ceremony in
Shalimar.
