Robinwood Drive be
deleted from the project in view of the fact that the con-
tracts are indicating an over- run of approximately
53, 000. 00.
Councilman Cahalan asked if it was really tha intention to omit
Ferry Avenue, and said if so we could expect a revolution.' Coun-
cilman Smith asked if Co~ cilman Cahalan had $ 53, 000. 00 to pave
the streets in question. Councilman Pelham advised that Mr.
Sudduth will pa~ e this portion of Ferry Avenue after he gets
the water and sewer lines in. Councilman Cahalan is of the ,
opinion there will be app roxima tely two million dollars worbh
of streets to be torn up due to the necessity for sewers and
drainage. again urged that we get a topo map of

mittee. Seconded ' by Councilman Smith.

Councilman Pelham moved that th1s~ be turned over to the
Finance Committee for financing. Seconded by Councilman Smith.
Mr. Rodgers advlsed he does not know what stage the contrac~
tors have reached and that it may be a late date to ask them
to go back and finish this street. Councilman Roberts sug-
gested that this be turned over to the Finance Committee for
providing the financing. Councilman Walker advised that Mr.
I
Sudduth came over and asked Mr. Balcer not to pave since he
wanted a street of a different type andwidth. This was, how-
ever, all discussed verbally; there are no supporting letters.
He, too, asked Councilman Cahalan how he planned to pay for
this street. To which Councilman Cahalan replied that since
this was in the original contract and no change order to de-
lete it had been presented to Council, he feels we should
proceed with this paving. He suggested that the City Clerk
write to Mr. Sudduth and get from him a wri tten camnitment
that within a reasonable time he wIll pave this portion of
Ferry Avenue, if that is forthcoming he will come back wi th
a recommendation that we have Mr. Sudduth pave this street.
However, unless we can get this piece of paper from Mr. Sud-
duth, he feels we should go ahead and let it be a part of
this' bond issue; if it o~ er- runs we are still going to assesS
tbe people' - we are still going to get the money back.
Councilman Roberts made a substitute motion that the portion
of Ferry under discussion be canceled, and in the event the
Committee comes back with the finasing we can go back and
re- negotiate. Seconded by Councilman Walker. Vote aye,
unanimous.
Council appointed Richard Fleming, journeyman plumber, to the
Plumbers' Examining Board.
Mr. Rodgers advised that Mr. DuBois has been referred to as
the city engineer,
butts not a qualified, registered engineer,
and to be named as the ci ty engine r: is misleading and unjust;
Mr. Rodgers will henceforth refer to Mr. DuBois as the Di-
rector of Public Works inasmuch as he will be in charge or
all outside activities.
Referring to the dog complaints that reach him, Councilman

Roberts asked the Manager to check with the Humane Society
to see if we are getting our money' s worth.
Councilman Smith advised it has been reported to him that the
