S.C( ~ b A RESOLUTION TO BE ENTITLED: A RESOLUTIO~ OF THE CITY OF FORT WALTON BEACH, FLORIDA DESIGNATING THAT PORTION OF HIGHWAY # 85 LYING WITHIN THE CITY OF FORT W.mON BEACH AS EGLIN PARKWAY; PRO- VIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, much confusion has arisen due to the fact that the highw~ leading to Eglin Air Force Base is variously known as Florida Avenue, Eglin Highway and Highway # 85, and WHEREAS, the State Ro~ d Department has provided a four- lane highway from downtown Fort Walton Beach, Florida to Eglin Air Force Base, and WHEREAS, ~ arious clubs and others conce~ ne~ have pledged themselves to beautify the par.k: st'xd:pon. this highway from Fort Walton Beach to Eglin Air Force Base turn- off, and WHEREAS, the various towns affected have agreed to re- name the portions of the highway passing through their corporate limits as Eglin Parkway. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fort Walton Beach Section 1: That all portions of Highway #85 lying within the corporate limits of the City of Fort Walton Beach, Florida is hereby redesignated and re- named Eglin Parkway. Section 2: That appropriate markers will be placed thereon re- designating and re- naming the said Highway #a5 as Eglin Parkway, said signs to be placed thereon where applicable in the discretion of the City Manager.
