Beach Clean Up
Parks began removing trash from Okaloosa Island and Destin Beaches on October 3, 2013.
The garbage cans were removed from both locations due to the impending Hurricane. On
Monday, October 7, 2013 all garbage cans were replaced back on the beaches. On October
8" trash removal began.
There are atotal of 139 Destin
There are atotal of 74 Okaloosa Island
Total of 213 44 gal. garbage cans.
Crews are empting and replacing approx. 30 garbage bags in Destin/day
Crews are empting and replacing approx. 20 garbage bags on Okaloosa Island/day
A total of 50 bags/day @ .30 ea. x 3 days/week = $45.00/week
Disposal costs @ Transfer station average $196.75/week
Some trash for week 4 has been incorporated into existing Parks dumpsters.
Replacement 44 gal Tuff Brute garbage cans (est. 10%) = 21 cans @ 67.00 ea = $1,407.00
We have not replaced any cans at this time.
