Dear Don,
tam writing to request funding from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund in the
amount of $7,500 to enable us to provide services without cost to victims of
domestic violence and their children. At a cost of $50 per visit, this will allow for
150 safe visits in which a victimized parent can rest assured that their child will
not be manipulated or harmed in any way. It also allows for this parent to safely
deliver their child without fear of further suffering.
The Visitation Center has been facing losses in funding over the past four years
that are making the viability of sustaining this service greatly at risk. | would like
to give you an exact calculation of the overall impact of losing this service;
however, the devastation that might ensue is incalculable. It is impossible to
know how many children would be exposed to the aggression, the violence, the
chaos and instability that would occur if victimized custodial parents were left to
fend for themselves in the community. It is hard to know how many victims of
domestic violence would be forced to face their abuser in order to fulfill child
visitation orders and how many children would be thrust back into the middle of
that violence. Please consider this request and the impact of the service it will
provide.
Thank you so much for your hard work! We are a community blessed with a
Sheriff that puts the highest priority on the protection of our children!
Respectfully,
Sharon Rogers
Executive Director
