SUBJECT: Award of Bid for Repair, Inspection & Service of Fire Extinguishers, Fire
Alarms & Sprinkler Systems
DEPARTMENT: Purchasing

STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Bids were opened on August 15, 2013. Bids were received from
three (3) firms (see attached tabulations). Koorsen Fire & Security (Fort Walton Beach, FL) is the
low bidder meeting specifications in the amount of $28,675.50 annually.
BACKGROUND: This contract covers required annual inspections of all county fire
extinguishers, fire alarms and sprinkler systems. This contract would be effective October 1, 2013
and replaces the current contract which expires September 30, 2013. The contract would be for one
year with three (3) one year options.
OPTIONS: Approve or reject.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Staff recommends approval to award to Koorsen Fire & Security; they
being low bidder meeting specifications in the annual amount of $28,675.50 and authorize the
Chairman to sign the contract.
