irrigation system ( R002). Discharge is to a 2. 0 million gallon holding tank at the Fort Walton Beach municipal golf course with II subsequent discharge to the 200 acre 18- hole golf course. The chlorine residual and fecal colifonn samples of the disinfected effluent leaving the chlorine ill contact chamber are sampled at the following locations: I\ I1II F:\2001\ 01.0387. 000\Report\ R-4\ 041403 FINAL\ SEC 5. doc HAI#01- 387. 00 5- 8 041403 II lilt III! R002 - the sprayfield sampling point at the golf course, is 100 feet north prior to II! the golf course' s above ground storage tank and after the after the Chlorine Injector Box in the eflluent discharge pipe. I Approximately 300, 000 to 500, 000 gallons per day is discharged to the City golf course storage tank and subsequently pumped through irrigation spray heads sprinklers for irrigation. The I distribution to the restricted access sprayfield is based on a time dataflow system. There are eight ( 8) zones within the sprayfield rotated every 0. 5 hours by a timer. The distribution system I for the sprayfield consists of a grid of spray heads on fixed risers. The eflluent from the WWTP is discharged into a 29 MG lined effluent holding pond. The I effluent is then pumped to ROOI : from this pond using the vertical turbine pumps located at the h!J irrigation pump station or pumped through the sand filter for tertiary treatment and gravity fed to a 2. 0 MG aboveground holding tank located at the City' s municipal golf course to be later pumped by a booster pump to the R002 sprayfield. The booster pump at the golf course can be I used to empty the 2. 0 MG holding tank effluent back to the holding pond during times of maintenance operations. Manual control valves are used to divert the eflluent to the different III locations. Presently, the sprayfields and the eflluent disposal system are operating as designed and no immediate capital expenditures are required. Section 7 of this report reviews the availability of additional public access reuse for the City. I! IIII 5. 11 AUXILIARY POWER II II The City' s WWTP is currently equipped with a 400 KW auxiliary diesel generation set with bulk 1;.. fuel storage on- site. The generator has sufficient capacity to supply power to the existing RBC with the process in the event of a power outage although additional capacity will be necessary projected WWTP improvements. The MLE process alternative requires approximately 300 KW of additional standby power due to the larger aerator motors and the addition of recycle pumps required for the activated sludge process. The RBC process will also require additional auxiliary III basin. The estimated power due to the installation of the diffused air system into the RBC F:\2001\ 01.0387. 000\Report\ R-4\ 041403 FINAL\SEC 5. doc III! HAI#01- 387. 00 5- 9 041403 Iii I.,.; I I auxiliary power requirement for the RBC process is 150 KW. It is estimated that the additional standby generator will cost $ 50, 000 for the RBC process and approximately $ 100, 000 for the I MLE process, which includes engineering, contingency, and permitting. I 5. 12 CAPITAL COSTS Table 5- 1 compares the probable opinion of capital costs associated with utilizing the RBC and I MLE alternatives. The probable opinion of capital costs associated with the treatment process utilizing the RBC alternative is $ 4, 118, 750. The RBC initial capital costs and future capital I expenditures related to this process are summarized in Table A- I0. The probable opinion of capital costs associated with the treatment process utilizing the MLE process alternative is I 4,793, 750. The MLE process initial capital costs and future capital expenditures related to this process are summarized in Table A- II.
