BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
AGENDA REQUEST
DATE: January 6, 2015
TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board
FROM: Jeff Littrell
SUBJECT: Fort Bend Services Inc. - Contract Renewal
DEPARTMENT: Water and Sewer
BCC DISTRICT: All
STATEMENT OF ISSUE: OCWS staff requests BCC approval to authorize the Chairman to
execute a contract renewal with Fort Bend Services, Inc. for the purchase of a specialized
polymer (FBS C1282) used in the sludge thickening and dewatering process at the Arbennie
Pritchett Water Reclamation Facility (APRWF).
BACKGROUND: This would be the third of three available renewals already included in
contract C12-1935-WS. The approximate annual value of this contract is $200,000. Polymer is
a highly specialized chemical, and not a typical commodity that you would purchase in bulk
from a low-bid vendor. It is used for sludge thickening and dewatering in the final process of
wastewater treatment at APWRF. This particular type of polymer, FBS C1282, went through a
rigorous testing process when APWRF was designed and constructed. The Contract/Lease
Renewal Form and Certificate of Insurance are attached for your review and consideration.
OPTIONS: Approve or deny.
RECOMMENDATIONS: OCWS requests BCC approval to authorize the Chairman to execute
the third of three available renewals on the Fort Bend Services contract, for the purchase of a
specialized polymer (FBS C1282) used at APWRF.
