The City Manager reported there have been requests for a number of years from residents for some type of
traffic calming because they are concerned about the traffic on Country Club Avenue. He reported staff
developed a proto type trafficc-alming
program for Country Club.
Billy Walker, 635 Country Club Avenue, described the traffic problem with speeders and the concern about
the safety of the children. He stated he would prefer the street be dosed; second, speed bumps be put in; or
third, medians as the City Manager proposed.
Discussion was held on the features of the proposed traffic-calming
program for Country Club. Device " a"
entrance feature - decreases turn radius onto Country Club. Device " b" median feature - cars must reduce
speed to move around median, vegetation limits sight distance. Device tic" median feature - cars must
reduce speed to move around median, vegetation limits sign distance. Device lid" raised crosswalk - vehicles
must reduce speed to pass over raised crosswalk. Device " e" entrance feature - cars must reduce speed to
move around median, vegetation limits sight distance.
The City Manager stated before the project is started staff would meet with the immediate affected property
owners to
get their opinions and objections. He noted speed bumps are a liability issue for the City but they
are
proposing a speed hump at Club Place. It was mentioned in developing the program with the residents
