The Police Department is eligible for the 2003 Local Law Enforcement Block Grant (L.L.E.B. G.). It is necessaty that the Agency's Governing body ( City Council) accept the grant. DISCUSSION: The 2003 Block Grant is in the amount of $ 17,333. Federal, and $ 1,926. 00 - City cash 00 - match, a total of$ 19,259. 00. As with previous block grants, the federal amount is limited to a maximum of nine-tenths of the total expenditure. The City has to match this amount with 10% of the total proposed expenditure. The Police Department will use the Law Enforcement Trust Fund for the matching funds and sufficient funds are available. Upon the official awarding of the 2003 Block Grant by the grant authority, several special conditions of the grant must be completed: 1. The Police Department will hold an Advisory Board Meeting as prescribed by the grant application to obtain approval for the intended expenditures of the grant funds. 2. In addition, the Department must conduct an advertised public hearing to infonn the public of the impending grant and to obtain input.
