BID SUMMARY COMMENTS
ITEM 21
1. The low bidder on item # 1 b, Kilpatrick Turf of Boynton Beach, FL, & 2nd low
bidder Kilpatrick Turf of Montgomery, AL.,both submitted a bid for a Jacobsen
Greens King IV that did not meet specifications and therefore was non-
responsive. The specifications indicated that the drive units for the cutting heads
of the greensmower must be electric powered, thus eliminating hydraulic line
breaks. The Jacobsen Greens King IV cutting heads are powered by hydraulics.
2. The low bidder on item # 2 Beard Equipment of Pensacola, FL., submitted a bid
for a John Deere fairway mower that did not meet specifications and therefore
was responsive. Our specifications for fairway mowers indicated a mow
non-
speed limiter that enables mowing speed to be preset from 0 to 8 MPH, and does
not affect the transport speed. In addition, dual point click adjustments cutting
units that have . 0007 bedknife movement for each position, were specified. The
John Deere mower is not equipped with these features.
3. The low bidder for item # 3 Kilpatrick Turf of Boynton Beach, FL., submitted a
bid for a National trim mower that did not meet specifications, and therefore was
non-responsive. Our specifications indicated the mower must be equipped with 3
27" rear discharge rotary decks and the front 2 decks must be able to slide to the
left 12" of center, 24" total movement, for mowing around lake banks, sand traps,
etc., and total cutting width of 72". The engine
specification is for 35 horsepower.
The National mower' s front 2 decks are stationary, and a total cutting width of
70". The National mower' s engine also did not meet specifications, as it is a 34
horsepower.
