The original museum was open free to the public in 1962, but with the addition of the museum' s first paid staff person, an admissions fee of .25 cents was charged to each visitor. For promotional and celebratory purposes, the museums would like to return to the .25 cent admission fee per person the four Sunday afternoons in June 2007. DISCUSSION: Heritage Park is developing creative ways to keep the community engaged in its local history through our museum events. A .25 cent admission fee nostalgically appeals to our long-time residents, who we are hoping to involve in museum programming, and also offers an opportunity to the local community to visit at a reduced rate when they might typically avoid an entrance fee. Sundays are often a slow day for our summer schedule and the reduced fee will boost attendance. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the reduced admission be approved for four Sundays in June to coincide with the 45111 anniversary of the Indian Temple Mound Museum.
