The City Attorney advised that this ordinance is being read on first reading, and she may have misspoken at the previous meeting when she announced it was being read for second reading. She explained since there is a substantial change to one provision, the process must begin over so this is being read for first reading, with second reading at the June 8 meeting. The Mayor opened the public hearing. Darrell Gobel, 218B Miracle Strip Parkway, Brooks Landing, advised it was his opinion that the Municipal Planning Board should not be afforded additional powers; that the process has worked fine in the past and sees no reason to change it. John Kitchin, 218P Miracle Strip Parkway, Brooks Landing, expressed the feeling that Planning Board members recuse themselves who have financial interest in any of the properties under their discretion for a new DRI should from voting. As there was no one else who wished to speak, the public hearing was closed. Dr. Pullen moved to adopt Ord. 1583 on first reading. Mr. Tucker seconded motion. The City Attorney explained that if a member of the Planning Board does have a direct interest in any question before the Board, they would abstain from the vote. The Mayor called for the vote on the motion and it carried unanimously with Patterson, Campbell, Tucker, Pullen, Kelley, and Anderson in favor ( Holmes absent). 1III.;::":"~_.
