of units by owner will require these items to be corrected but should not be a hard and firm requirement of the City. 2. Item 2 will be corrected by owner~ Owner also states he was not aware of this problem previously and it would have been corrected upon notification to him by tenant. 3. Item 4 owner agrees to make existing electrical system safe. However, he is of the opinion that installing a completely new system would be unfair and create an undue hardship upon him. The Committee agrees and recommends reasonable ( minimal) repairs of existing electrical system be made, if necessary. The committee also recommends, upon com- pliance with the recommendations, owner' s property should be removed from condemned status. Mr. Hunt moved that the recommendations be approved. Motion was seconded by Mr. Hill and carried. Mr. Baughman voted NO. SITE PLAN FOR tlSPIRIT OF ' 76t1 Mayor presented the architect' s drawing STATUE IN LION' S PARK for the placement of Spirit of ' 76 statue in Lion' s Park, and a recommendation for approval of placement of statue in Lion' s Park provided it does not provide traffic hazard on any of the adjacent streets. Mr. Hunt moved that the site plan be appro- ved. Motion was seconded by Mr. Brock and carried unanimously. ROY OURSO~ 596 L~ OMBRE CT~ Mayor recognized Mr. Roy Ourso, 596 L' Ombre Court, N. E. Mr. Ourso stated that after the hurricane, he had about 50 concrete 0~229 0- blocks removed from the front of his house by the sanitation truck. These blocks were there to keep the road from washing into my yard. I contacted the City and asked for the blocks back. I have talked to the City Engineer and he I told me I should write a letter to you. I don' t think I should have to do that. I am here tonight asking you for my blocks back. Mr. Baughman moved that the City replace the blocks. Motion was seconded by Mr. Hill and carried unanimously. Mr. Ourso also stated that the City is getting ready to cut a street behind L' Ombre. He asked that the City save as many trees as possible on the right- of- way. When the men started cleaning the wooded area behind L' Ombre, rats were run out of the woods and into the residential area. I would just like for Council to be aware of this, so it can be controlled. MRS. HARRY DAWSON, 123 Mayor recognized Mrs. Harry Dawson, 123 STAFF DRIVE Staff Drive. Mrs. Dawson said, there is a vacant lot beside me that I have been trying to get someone to clear since 1966. There are rats and snakes in there. When- ever there is a rapist or a robber at Fort Walton Square, the Police are unable to apprehend the suspect because they run into this wooded area and the Police are unable to get into the area. I have seen a motorcycle hidden in there and a suit- case hidden. I think it is high time this lot was cleaned off. It is a shame that in the middle of town we have a house with pine trees growing out of the roof. There is a City ordinance that lots are to be cleaned. Mr. Baughman moved that the problem be I referred to City Manager and City Attorney for their study and recommendation back to Mr. Council. Rigdon stated that we have an ordinance for this, and I don' t see why we need to refer this. Mr. Hill moved that City Manager contact the owner of the property requesting that w_..^...,~--------......'"*".'-"..-.--;,-....-'......------......,..'" "---"" e_- ~------,---" ---- 1 290 z fttp_ s-/6' they clean the lot. If they don' t clean the lot, then the City should go in and clean it and send them the bill. Motion was seconded by Mr. Rigdon.
