A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF FORT WALTON BEACH, ADOPTING PROCEDURE TO
FILL THE VACANCY FOR SEAT 6 ON CITY COUNCIL;
AND PROVIDING THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WALTON BEACH,
FLORIDA:*
SECTION I. The following persons are eligible for election to
City Council to fill the vacancy for Seat 6:
Dennis Nicholson
Alan J. Freiberg
Ray Munn
SECTION II. In each round of voting, the nominees will be
voted on in the order provided in Section I. The method of election is
viva voce or voice vote. The vote will be recorded for each candidate
for whom the call for vote is made by the Mayor. Each Council member
shall indicate a yes or no vote. In each round of voting, each Council
member is limited to one yes vote. The voting system will be utilized.
In any round of voting, so long as there are three candidates, the person
receiving fewer votes than the other two candidates will not advance, and
thereafter the field of candidates is reduced to two candidates. The
first nominee to receive four votes shall be considered elected. If a
tie vote results, the Mayor will cast the fourth vote to break the tie.
SECTION III. Resolution 90-25 is superseded hereby.
SECTION IV. This resolution shall take effect immediately
upon approval by the Council and signature by the Mayor.
