WATER SERVICE LINE FOR City Manager stated that at the last
LOVEJOY INDUSTRIAL PARK meeting, Council approved running a
temporary water service line to Stokes
Avenue for the Lovejoy Industrial Park.
Our engineers have looked at this and
they recommend that you go ahead with
the permanent service line rather than
a temporary line, due to the fact that
within a yearls time you will have to
put another line into your own Indus-
trial Park. Cost of 12" permanent line
will be $ 9, 796, and cost of 2" tempo-
rary line would be $ 3, 100.

There further discussion about the
was
assessment and cost to the City for the
difference in the permanent and temporary
line. It was pointed out that the City
would actually save some money by
going ahead with the permanent line now.
Mr. Hunt moved to amend the original
motion to take the permanent line to
Ready Avenue and extend the temporary
line to service the Lovejoy Industrial
Park, and at the time they are willing
to pay for the permanent service line,
then we will put it in. Amendment was
seconded by Mr. Bishop.
Mr. Rigdon said
that we are talking
about that will take place
expansion
next year. There is property across
the street that will need service. It
is our responsibility to furnish fire
protection to that Industrial Park,
and by not having adequate lines, it
means that we have a fire problem. As
we go forward in the Industrial Park,
I think we should make every preparation
that would encourage people to build
there.
Mr. replied, the City does have a
Hunt
responsibility, and we are ready, willing
and able to provide adequate water
service when the money comes forth.
We can serve the peop1els property by 1
taking the permanent line to Ready
Avenue. But I am not as a citizen
to pick up the tab.
