Alma Nolan of Linstew Drive said she
had lived out there for 20 years
and
realized they didn' t want it on
Briarwood and she could see why they
didn' t want to pay for this. She said
that the people of Linstew needed it
and she thought it would be justified
to eliminate Briarwood from assessment
and the City to work out something with
people on Linstew to give them some
relief. She said the beach end of
Linstew was not an access for Briarwood;
it was right- of- way for Bayou SID.

rate protest was from. It was noted that
rate protest was from Neptune Court, but
Mr. Bryan spoke saying they did not want
paving or drainage.
Mr. Shelley said people of Linstew were
complaining about the rate and that a
precedent had been set by City Council
when paved Industrial Avenue - that City
picked up 25% of the tab on that part-
icular street.
Mr. Etheredge noted that was $ 10. 00 on
each side he hadn' t been able to come
up with anything near that cost even
with a 10 root culvert underground. He
asked if these plans included sewerage.
Manager said seweage was in the same
project but not in this cost.
Mrs. Jones said if people there voted
about cost as it was now she thought
Mayor would find most of them felt it
was entirely too high.
A lady who did not give her name noted
that they were not at the end of Linstew
and were assessed where they were not
getting paving.

A gentleman who did not give his name said
if drainage went into that area, what was
going to happen to that Bayou. He submitted
pictures of the beach area.
Charles Coons of Neptune Court said he
felt people that lived on the Bayou on
Neptune Court would prefer that the water go
somewhere else rather than right in front
of their property.

people living Briarwood used Linstew

Mr. C. G. Gibson of Briarwood Circle said
they had tried to beautify the beach. He

believed the article pertained to sewage.

HEARING PANEL AND Mayor read the following re:c,onimendatiorB " from
PLANNING BOARD the Hearing Panel:
REF: ALLEY CLOSING
OCEAN CITY SID Hearing Panel at its regular meeting held
June 30, 1971, recommended the following:
Recommend request be denied to close alley
affecting property located at lots 15
through 25 and lots 72 through 82, Ocean
City SID. Alley runs between Magnolia Avenue
and Elm Avenue, north from 3rd to 4th Avenue.
Reason for property owners' request is due
to misuse of alley.
Mayor read the Planning Board recommendation
of July 6 concerning the same request:
Recommend alley be closed. The Chairman
requested that the record show that, in the
1 opinion of the Planning Board, this request
to close the alley was in keeping with
previous action in this general neighborhood
that the original purpose of the alleys in
this subdivision had long since become archaic;
and that easements should be provided
giving
the City the necessary rights of access for
utility maintenance and repairs.
