RESOLUTION 2008-54 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF FORT WALTON BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING FUNDING THROUGH THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY FOR EQUIPMENT, PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT, AND TRAINING; AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO - EXECUTE GRANT DOCUMENTS; AUTHORIZING THE FIRE CHIEF TO OVERSEE THE PROJECT; AUTHORIZING A BUDGET AMENDMENT; AND SETTING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WALTON BEACH, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: The Federal Emergency Management Agency through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program provides funding to meet firefighting and emergency response needs. The City is eligible to participate in this competitive grant program, and has applied for and been awarded up to a project total of $57,473 ($51,725 grant funds and $5,748 City match from fund balance) for equipment, personal protective equipment, and training. The City Council finds that is in the best interests of the citizens of Fort Walton Beach to participate in the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. Therefore, the City Council hereby authorizes the Mayor to execute grant documents as needed; the Fire Chief to implement, supervise, and manage the initiative pursuant to City purchasing policies and procedures and Florida law; and a budget amendment to record the grant.
