FARMERS' MARKET Mr. Sundy stated he was Chairman of the Farmers' Market Committee
and he ' would like to be removed from that position, saying he felt
he had a conflict of interest. He felt it was a good idea but if it
came about he would be competing with other people for stalls and
felt a conflict. Mr. Bishop moved the request be accepted. Motion
seconded by Mr. Franklin and carried unanimously.
VALPARAISO Mr. Bishop mentioned that in the agenda packet there was a letter
I
BANK FUNDS where it seemed they would approve setting up an account at the
Valparaiso Bank. He asked what was the purpose of the letter.
The Manager said this was an additional information item. Mr. Bishop
felt there was a policy of where they placed new bank accounts and
he felt all of the City' s banking should be within the City limits;
feeling people within the City should be given priority if we could,
things being equal. The City Clerk said for information that particular
account that been there 25 years or so, established by bond ordinance,
and the bank had requi.red the City to sign a form to convert to
a Super NOW Acccount. Mr. Bishop had thought this was a new account.
The Clerk said this was the only bank that required a signature to
convert, and was a matter of record. Mr. Franklin said

VALPARAISO BANK the funds, go to the Valparaiso Bank and they transfer the funds
to the Chicago National Bank to sati.sfy the bonds. The City Clerk
said any new accounts were done by Resolution by the City
Council. Mr. Bishop said that cleared up his misunderstanding
that it was a new account.
FARMER' S MARKET Mayor announced she wou~ d appoint someone in Mr. Sundy' s place
on the Farmer' s Market Committee when she had checked to see
who was already on the Committee.
VALPARAISO BANK Mr. Bishop asked again about the account, noting back in the
budget, they had discussed surplus money in the bank and there
had been some discussion of bringing money back. Mr. Franklin
felt that money could not be touched because it was a bond
issue. The Clerk said instead of sending the total amount of
money needed there was already some up there so we were sending
less money by that amount. Mr. Bishop said that answered his
questions.
PENSION MEETING The Mayor reminded Council of the meeting the following afternoon
at 5: 00 p. m. to discuss the pension proposals - a meeting of
the Committee of the Whole.
MRS. MORRIS She reminded Council that many years ago when Mrs. Liza Jackson
RE HISTORICAL was still living, the two of them had asked Council to preserve
SITES 3 landmarks, the old jail, the old post office and the little
community center on Main St. that had been used for the 1st
Council meetings. She noted the post office had been taken care of.
It was noted that the community center belonged to the Vandegriffs
and the City beautified a little park area for shoppers next to it.
It was discussed, based on the Public Works Director' s report,
that it was impractical to restore and/ or remove the old jail.
It was noted Council had given the present owner to remove
it.
MR. MAIHLES Mr. Maihles commended the Council for their stand on the
anti- nudity ordinance.
