RECOMMENDATION Mayor presented the following recommendation from
FROM BUILDING Building Inspector:
INSPECTOR
Due to the numerous requests for variances to
Section 23- 19 of the City Code for the installation
of fences other than 4- foot open
link the chain
fencing that is presently authorized
for the front
yards, I would recommend that Council take a look at
other types of fences that could be installed with-
out any hazardous conditions being created.
There are several different types of fencing that are
decorative but still open enough not to create a
traffic problem. A few types are as follows:
1. Brick or stone columns, ~ referably not larger than
2' x 2' X 4', with chain, pipe, open wrought iron,
I. or
rails,
2.
split rails,
minimum of
Open wrought iron
50 % open
with a maximum of four horizontal
pipes, or chains between the vertical columns.
fencing 4- feet in height with a
area. "
3. Split rail fencing not to exceed 4 feet in
heights with not more than four horizontal rails
between the vertical posts.
4. Open chain link fence, not to exceed 4 feet in
U 7 0 3/ 11/ 80 & 3/ 18/ 80
height, as presently permitted.
Sould also recommend special consideration be given
to proposed fencing on corner lots. This is the
specific area where hazards exist due to vision
problems fortraffi c.
A corner lot could be limited to a height of 3 feet
for these
types fencing; of or a 4 fence
