CONTROL OF MOSQUITOES, SIND- FLEAS, AND Q~ HER ARTHROPODS,
PROVIDING FOR THE GENERAL ~ uiTURE OF THE WORK TO BE
DONE, AND AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE TRANSFER OF
SUCH FUNDS TO THE BOAP~ OF COU}ITY COMMISSI01~ RS OF
OKALOOSA COUNTY, FLORIDA, FOR SUCH WORK. .
1EREAS, it is necessary to the health of the inhab! tants of the
City of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, that a program be instituted
for the control of L10Squi toes, sand- flies and other arthropods,
and
vffiEREAS,
the City of Fort Walton Beach is without funds to alone
carryon a program of the size actually necessary to the control
of mosquitoes, sand- flies and other arthropods in the City of
FortWal ton Beach, and
WHEREAS, the State Board of Health is now authorized by law to
assist counties in mosquito- control programs, but is without
authority to assist municipalities, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Okaloosa County
have evidenced a desire to undertake a program for the
complete
eradication of mosquitoes, Sand- flies and other arthropods in the
City of Fort Wa~ on Beach, but are wIthout funds with which to
match the aforesaid State aid available to counties for such
program, and

mREAS, in order to take advantage of the fund available from
the State Board of Health it is then determined that it is to
the best interest of the said city and of the county that the
funds available to the city be placed at the disposal of th~
Board of County CommissiOners and that the
program planned by
the city be carried out by the Board of
County Commissioners in
order to take advantage of the State aid available.
NO\ v, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF FORT WAL~rON BEACH,
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. There is hereby appropriated from the general funds
of the City of Fort Waljon Beach, Florida, for the fiscal year
1956- 57, the total sum of $ 12, 000 to be expended for the control
ofmosquitoes,~ flies and other arthropods, ! n the City of Fort
Walton Beach, by draining and spraying the breeding
place or
places or such insects, within the said city and without the said
city, and the institution of sanitary land- fill method of dispos-
ing of garbage in the said city and adjacent area.
SECTION 2. The aforesaid total appropriati6n__ shall be broken
own and expended as follows: $ 5720. 00 for
equipment purchase;
300. 00 for the purchase--of spray and other'~chemicals; $ 2848. 56
shall be expended for lahor; $ 780. 00 shall be
expended for super-
vision; $ 1931. 44 shall be expenaed for gas, oil and
equipment
maintenance, and $ 420. 00 shall be expended for miscellaneous
expenses necessary for the purposes herein stated.
SECTION ~. The funds herein appropriated shall be turned over
to the Clerk of the Circuit Court in and for Okaloosa
County,
Florida, upon his requisition, for expenditure
by the Board of
County Commissioners of Okaloosa County in accord with~this reso-
lution and in accord with the map
designating area to be drained,
attached hereto and made a part hereof.
