AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 5-2.1 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF FORT WALTON BEACH, FLORIDA REQUIRING STEEL RODS IN FOOTINGS AND FOUNDATIONS FOR NEW CONSTRUCTION, PROVIDING THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WALTON BEACH, FLORIDA: SECTION I. That Section 5-2.1 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Fort Walton Beach is amended by the addition of the following: "That a minimum of two (2) #4 rods shall be installed in any footing or foundation for any dwelling unit one-story in height or over 400 sq. ft. in area. That footings or foundations on all other buildings shall be designed and stamped by an architect or engineer registered in the State of Florida." SECTION II. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days after its passage and approval by the Mayor.
