lP A RESOLUTION A RESOLUTION ENTITLED A RESOLUTION ~ 1HEREBY THE CITY OF FORT WALTON BEACH RECO~ 1&\ JDS TO THE STATE LEGISLATURE THAT THE ENTIRE STATE OF FLORIDA BE INCLUDED WITHIN ONE TIME Z ONE, TO w"'IT: EASTERN STANDARD T:J:(E, AND URGING ALL CITIES, COUNTIES, AND MILITARY RESERVATIONS IN NORTHWEST FLORIDA TO CONCUR WHEREAS, The governing body of the City of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, is desirous of cooperating with neighboring Counties, Ci ties and Mili tD.ry Reservations in recommcnd5.ng to ~ he State Legislature that the entire State of Florida be incluasd within the same time Zone, and WHEREAS, they feel this change in time for the Northwestern portion of Florida will benefit the entire State of Florida by providing a common uFlorida Timen, and WHEREAS, such change will benefit the entire northweste~n portion of Florida in that it will permit full exploit.ation of the outdoor recreation facilities available to this playground area during the entire tourist season, and WHEREAS, with " Florida Timen in effect it would be unnecessary for businesses to change their time schedules. twice a year to achieve the advantages of long daylight hours, NO'W", THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WALTON BEACH, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. That the Legislature of the State of Florida in its 1957 Session be enjoined to fix the official time in that section of Northwest Florida now designated as Central Stafidard Time as Eastern Standard Time thereby setting a " Florida Time" that would be applicable to the entire state of Florida.
