A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF FORT WALTON BEACH,
FLORIDA, URGING THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL
PROTECTION AND THE FLORIDA STATE REPRESENTATIVES TO
FAVORABLY CONSIDER THE TOWN OF SHALIMAR APPLICATION
FOR A FRDAP NO MATCH GRANT APPLICATION AND PROVIDING
THE EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Town of Shalimar has earnestly made an effort to
prepare their only fair-sized park for further development of outdoor
recreation opportunities among persons of all ages; and
WHEREAS, meeting the increasing demand for recreational
opportunities can be met with improvements and additions to Cherokee
Park; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Shalimar has almost doubled its
population in the last four years and recreational needs are great.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF FORT WALTON BEACH,
FLORIDA:
SECTION I. That the City of Fort Walton Beach urges favorable
consideration for the Town of Shalimar grant application.
SECTION II. That the City of Fort Walton Beach is hereby
authorized to forward copies of this Resolution to the Governor of
Florida, all State Legislators, the Okaloosa County League of cities,
and the Florida League of Cities, and others interested.
SECTION III. This Resolution shali take effect immediately
upon the approval of the City Council and signature by the Mayor.
