D O Aqulod - 12 [A794 RESOLUTION 98-26 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WALTON BEACH DECLARING AND DESIGNATING A CITY PARK; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF. WHEREAS, the City Council of Fort Walton Beach recognizes the need for certain recreational areas to serve public purposes and to provide for the health and welfare of the citizens of the City; WHEREAS, the property located at 208 Perry Avenue (Exhibit A) was leased for 99 years by the City of Fort Walton Beach for park purposes in 1988; WHEREAS, the subject property is approximately .25 acre in size; WHEREAS, the property has been used as a passive recreation park open to the public and has been maintained by the Parks and Recreation Department since it's initial acquisition; WHEREAS, the City Council seeks to publicly declare its intent this property is to remain a public park for passive recreation and special event uses; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WALTON BEACH, FLORIDA: SECTION I: The City Council of the City of Fort Walton Beach herepy declares and designates the property located at 208 Perry Avenue a special use Mini Park. A mini park is generally less than one acre in size, has a service area radius of approximately one quarter mile, and is typically used for tot lots or passive recreation. SECTION II: Policies for the operation of parks are set forth by Resolutions and Ordinances of the City Council. SECTION III: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon approval by Council and signature of the Mayor.
