GUIDED -WALKING - TOUR: BROCHURE -:: “AND PROV IBTNG AN EFPECTIVE; ‘DATE. - WHEREAS, Objective 9.A.5 of the City's Comprehensive Plan: 2000_ states the City shall complete an historic structures survey to identify locally significant historic structures and sites and such structures and sites shall be added to the City’ s list of locally significant historical resources: and WHEREAS, the City completed such required survey in 1992 and is cognizant. of: the location and the value of the City! s historical structures and sites: and WHEREAS, the City aspires to convey the information from the survey to -the--public for their education and enjoyment of the City! s historic districts and WHEREAS, the City proposes to develop a Community Education Project by::preducing a-self-guided walking tour brochure to -describe the history and location of those historic structures identified in the surveys and WHEREAS, the City Council of Fort Walton Beach wishes to apply to ‘the--Florida Department of State, Division of Historical Resources, for financial’ assistance to'develop: a Community Education Project consisting of a self-guided walking tour brochure. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT MALTON: BEACH, ‘FLORIDA: :-.: 4 sie nacto, male Alp or ” SECTION Y, The City Manager on behalf of the City of Fort Walton Beach: is: hereby: authorized to submit an application to’ the Florida Department of State, Division of Historical Resources, a Community’ Education Project and, following approval by tthe Historic Preservation Advisory: Council shall enter into an agreement with the Florida Department of State to implement the approved grant. SECTION II. The City Manager of Fort Walton Beach is hereby authorized: to:-send: copies of this Resolution to-the Florida Department of State, Division of Historical Resources and ‘other persons as directed by the City Council. SECTION Ill. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately upon the approval of the City Counc] and signature by the Mayor.
