WASTEWATER TREATMENT Consent Order, Baskerville Donovan
Engineers have been
PLANT working preliminary plan
on a for the wastewater
treatment plant and the sprayfield irrigation. He said
Council has been provided a copy of the first draft of
the preliminary report. there have been some minor
changes; and what he needs this evening is instruct ion
from Council to deliver the document to D. E. R.
Mr. Smith moved that the City Manager send the report to
D. E. R. Motion was seconded by Mrs. Wyninegar.
Van Peevy, with Baskerville Donovan, reviewed
alternative locations for the spray field other than the
golf course, Le., the ball park area, the fairground
area, which are all acceptable spray fields. He noted
they did not do extensive investigation of the areas.
but they studied the soil maps, and there are some
alternatives.
Discussion followed on the time factor involved in the
event it becomes necessary to find a different
location. Mr. Peevy said he believed the Consent Order
stipulates 60they accept what is offered as
days, once
a solution. to return with a design and implementation
schedule. He explained the next step would be to go
into the actual design. and if there is reason to go
back and investigate other areas. they will have to ask
for the time to do that.
Mr. Peevy was requested to provide the estimated overall
costs, as of now, then if it is necessary to go to
another area. the ball park delta that would add to the
cost. Mr. Peevey stated, now, from the preliminary work
done, the approximately
cost is dollars; 2. 2 million
when they get the final into
design, that may change
when they see exactly what has to be added; but compared
to the overall costs. the additional cost would not be
that expensive. they are
talking about thousands of
dollars.
During a brief discussion on the number of acres being
sprayed on the golf course, Mr. Peevy explained it is
approximately 180 acres; there are 420 acres on the
present spray field. but with the ponding problem they
are
recommending in the report to take the three heads
out of that area. which will cut down on the acres.
The Mayor called for the vote on the motion and it
carried unanimously, with Smith, deVaux, Wyatt, Haney,
and Wyninegar in favor ( Rosenbaum absent).
