In reference to ordinance, City Clerk stated
the
that Council furnished a copy of a letter
had been
from J. B. Converse & Co., Inc. reference a maximum
sewer charge. There are three methods, it is up to
Council to decide which method to use for billing
purposes. The alternatives are as follows:
1. Maintain proposed user charge system which uses
total water consumption in the computation of the
monthly sewer bill. Allow for the installation of
separate water meters for lawn sprinkling systems.
2. Establish 16, 000 gallons as maximum water con-
sumption for computation of a residential sewer
bill. This alternative would not allow for the
installation of a separate water meter for ancillary
purposes.
3. Adopt a maximum percentage rate ( i. e. 90%) to
apply to the customers' total monthly water consump-
tion in computing this sewer bill.
City Manager recommended that Council adopt Alter-
native No. 2, which establishes the 16, 000 maximum.
Should EPA refuse to approve this alternative, we
would have to change back to the total billing system.
Mr. moved to approve Alternative No.
Hunt 2, estab-
lishing 16, 000 gallon
a maximum for sewer billing
purposes. Motion was seconded by Mr. Baughman and
carried unanimously.
